Since 2018, we have offered an interpretive guiding service to the Island Queen Cruise company in Parry Sound, Ontario. The Huckleberry Island Eco-Tour is offered 3 times each week from May to September. Aboard the “Islander” – a 40-passenger tour boat – our Georgian Bay Biosphere guide provides information to guests about the history, culture and ecology of the islands in the UNESCO biosphere region. During the 2.5 hour tour, our guide points out important landmarks and habitats, and provides a 30-minute guided walk on Huckleberry Island itself. We lead guests to stroll over the rocks and explore the shoreline, ending on a beautiful secluded and shallow beach. The Islander goes through the “Hole in the Wall” on this trip – a unique geological feature that creates a narrow navigational passage for boats, and is considered one of the 20 Amazing Places within the UNESCO biosphere.
“Huckleberry Island is so beautiful. It’s unbelievable really. Smooth rock, windswept pines, lapping water, secluded beaches and the smell of junipers. Wow.”
